Neel Mukherjee praised Amruta Patil’s writing as “...a thing of radiant beauty: witty, smart and swaggering, brightly knowing without ever falling into archness, illuminated by frequent flashes of poetry.”

Amruta Patil is from New Delhi in India. She is an internationally acclaimed author and artist, and has become India’s first female graphic novelist, her first her debut, “Kari” was published by Harper Collins in 2008. Her current graphic novel, “Adi Parva: Churning of the Ocean” is about to be published by Harper Collins, it is the first in a trilogy, and tells a tale drawn from the opening chapter of the Mahabharat, one of the greatest epics from India.

Neel Mukherjee’s award-winning debut novel, “A Life Apart” (Constable & Robinson), was published in 2010. His second novel, The Lives of Others, is out in January 2014. He reviews fiction and graphic novels regularly for The Times and is also a contributing editor for Boston Review, where he starts a column from the beginning of next year.

The evening will be hosted and introduced Paul Gravett is a director of the Comica Festival and the author of many books on comics and graphic novels, including the best-selling "1001 Comics You Must Read Before You Die".

Following the event, Amruta Patil will be signing her graphic novels “Kari” and a limited supply of advance copies of “Adi Parva”.
